This work in progress shows a fine Federal eave cornice with damage from terne-plate belt panel above.The scope of work includesmatching the cornice and bed moldings and rebuilding the entire soffit system including structural lookout rafters, new soffit, crown and bed moldings with new fascia boards.

Note in the picture how the original crown molding had deteriorated and the wood gutter has been removed. In many simple traditional houses in New England, a very cost effective solution to this situation is shown in the ‘after’ picture. Simply splicing in a matched crown to the traditional wood gutter insures a correct period look and a long-lasting wood gutter system.
